morning moves

How we start our day really dictates how the rest of it is going to roll out.

I am a massive fan of morning pages and have settled back into the practice of writing 3 pages of thoughts each morning when I wake up.

Then I move my body….

Heres some simple and slow morning moves to move you from that liminal sleepy space into a being a little more open and ready for the day - all to be done in bed. Perfect for these darker autumn mornings.

Simply feel into the movements of 10 breaths. Let this lead you into your body.

Ease yourself into a simple twist - can we twist from the breast bone rather than the shoulder? What do you find there when you do? Ease yourself into the opposite twist when you are ready.

Extend one arm up to invite in some space through that side of the body and gently lean over towards the opposite direction - allow both sides of the body to stay lengthened - moving towards a long curve through the torso. Do the other side too. Obvs.

Can you gently drape yourself over the side of the bed and invite in some space through the front of the body - maybe stay here a little while and breathe into it. Notice how you feel. then when you are ready to start your day go softly and unhurried.
